    Just the same, if this number is high-ish you can also have issues. That is, for example, are the customers spending more time because they can’t find what they need? Maybe you need to improve your search? Maybe your FAQ isn’t as helpful as it could be?

    Long to short, average is probably not a metric you want to use here. Average is going to hide the extremes, and the extremes are what you need to know about.

    Items 1-7 aren’t KPIs – they are diagnostic metrics, even for those folks that are in charge of driving those metrics.

    The rest are fairly solid, but debatable.

    KPIs always, always, always tie back to the business goals. Everything else just answers why those KPIs aren’t where they need to be.
